  Fast forwarding about one hour...

The Lieutenant drops you all off in his SATAV (a large, intimidating rover). He drops you off in front of the monorail station at the crater wall. Please refer to the map of Tycho on the game's web site. The monorail station is at the bottom of the map, to the left.

Tycho is essentially a city built inside a large crater. There is a transparent dome built over the creater, but a lot of the city is built inside the rock of the crater wall. However, on this part of the crater (near the spaceport), there's nothing on the crater wall.

There's a spaceport out there, and a city beyond...

You have a few choices to get on board a ship:

To hitch a ride:

1.) Go to the port authority and go through the paperwork.

2.) Go to a cantina and find a pilot. (We all know what will happen to your droids, though.)

To sneak on board a ship:

3.) Pay somebody to look the other way.

4.) Simply sneak and hope nobody notices.

5.) Hurt the guy whose job it is to notice.

You've got the skill to do 1, 2, or 5. 4 might be hard for the doctor and Churchill. It's possible if you plan it well, though. I don't know if you'd be willing to pay the money for #3, but it's certainly possible.

Kent could fly anything that's relatively small: Light Cruiser, Light Freighter, or smaller. A Medium Cruiser would be very, very hard to fly at this level. You see that at a port this size, there are a number of small vessels to choose from that Kent could handle.

If you shoose to sneak on board one, would you be looking for a freighter (lightly armed, but much cargo room) or a cruiser (more heavily armed, but not as much cargo room)?

I seem to have missed a few details earlier, and this might be the best time to mention them.

Firstly, you each would have a valid Intersolar Passport Chip, or IPC, and a Solar Alliance Travel Card. This is basically equivalent to a passport and ID. NEO would have provided the money to get these, and they usually require that they are kept up to date.

Secondly, when you set foot in Tycho, you would have to have passed a customs checkpoint. The Lieutenant would have put in a good word for you, which makes this the fastest and easiest Lunar checkpoint that you've ever been through. They do scan your IPC, but require nothing more. They issue a visa that it good for 90 days on the whole planet.

Again, those are insignificant details at this point, but I thought it would be nice for you to know why it was so easy to get into Tycho.

After he makes his way through customs, Sneaky Pete turns to Kent.
"If you're not comfortable taking a ship for our mission, maybe we can hire someone who won't ask too many questions and isn't stupid enough to get captured by the police."
He points to the Tycho Information Monitor just outside the customs gate.
"Maybe this can help us find a real dive bar near the launch pads. There's bound to be some pilots there"

You are close to some hotels and businesses. A little to the north is Spacertown, a small area of cheap restaurants and bars. There are a number of places there that would probably work for you. For instance, "Free Fall Bar and Grille", and "Martian Dick's".

Spacertown is a five minute walk to the north. You could get there by the rail, but it might take just as long to buy a ticket, wait for the train, and so forth. A jet car might work, if you want to get rid of some credits.

(By the way, you have all the information presented on the map of Tycho on the game's web site, under materials.)

I'll assume that the party walks to the FFBG, as it's been a few days. The walk takes a few minutes, during which they can take in the splendors of Tycho. The spaceport is full of people. It seems to be a busy time of day, as they can't imagine it being any busier than this.

In fact, this is true when they reach the grille. The single front door opens to reveal a small establishment that is almost full. Each table has at least one occupant. There are two empty seats at the bar.

(There is a diagram of the inside of the grille on the materials site under Tycho. If you're still having trouble viewing the images, I'll email them to you.)

From the looks of it, every last occupant of this place looks like a pilot, engineer, crewman, or mercenary.

Eventually he finds a good table with a good view. As a barmaid (or bar-bot) wanders near him. He waves her down.

There's a short, Lunarian waitress that comes by. She seems to care very little about what Pete and Brok want. She does return with two mugs. (The name patch on her shirt says "Letta".)

Letta listens to Pete's question. She gives a slight snarl as through she's about to tell him what he can do with his question. Almost as a second thought, she points at a rowdy table in the back and says, "Why don't you ask them guys? If you can get them to shut up long enough to listen."

Pete: What's your name?
Ralon: They call me Ralon. Les Ralon.

Pete: When did it happen?
Ralon: I got the call a few hours ago. I walked around the streets for a little while, then I came here.

Pete: Do you think they're still in port?
Ralon: No! The ship was on its way from Luna to Jupiter. They hijacked it.

Pete: Are you financially ruined?
Ralon: Yes! Yes! That was all I had! I was going to make a fortune from that deal, then start a big transport and trading company.

Pete: Was it a violent theft, i.e. pirates?
Ralon: I think it was. The only survivor got picked up by a passing freighter. He got the call out to me. He said they took everything, killed the rest of the crew, and then comandeered the ship!

Pete: Was it a sneaky theft?
Ralon: I don't know how they got so close. The crew was supposed to be pretty good. If they used force, the pirates would have to be very good. They'd have to be really good to sneak up on my ship, too. Either way, I'm runied!

[At his point, Ralon sobs and drinks from his mug.]

Pete: What's the ship's name?
Ralon: It was called... [sniff] the MineralTrade 1. I was going to buy a dozen ships and name them all MineralTrade. I was going to be RICH!

[Again, Ralon sobs and drinks from his mug.]

Notice Check: Kent, Pete, and Coop notice a news hologram as you're leaving the lobby. It mentions a RAM strike on Earth that is just getting under way. Apparently, many major cities on Earth are being massively bombarded by a Martian fleet.

You are free to board the ship. The card that Ralon gave you (Kent knows) will open the airlock. Feel free to make your entrances as you want to.

Please let me know what your next actions are.

(*** There are statistics of the new ship, the Yellow Roykan, on the game's web page. ***)

Kent slides the door open and smiles at the prospect of having their own ship..at least for the time being. "This is the life. I'll get this baby started up. It'll take a few minutes. I'll get the coordinates into the computer to get us where we need to go."

Churchill puts his belongings under a bunk in the crew's quarters. He goes down to the engine room and starts to get familiar with everything.

He his a button on the intercom and says (for all on the ship to hear), "This is Churchill. It's gonna take me a little while to get used to this engine. I just need a few minutes, then I'll get it started."

Kent is now sitting on the top deck, banging away at a computer. He still has his bags and weapons with him.

Kent feels that the navigation is set up properly, but it's a long trip. Anything can happen.

Brok also stores his equipment (except his sidearm) under a bunk. He then goes to the galley to look around.

After tossing his pack into a locker, Sneaky Pete sets up at one of the computers.
"I'm not real great with these things, but I can help out with any programming, communication and data retrieval issues."

In the rush of getting into the cockpit, Mike doesn't even think about dropping off any of his stuff. "Excellent. This is looking good." He pauses and realizes all his stuff is with him. "Oops. I'll be right back." He goes to find a spot to drop off his stuff before he goes back to warming the ship up.

It takes a few minutes (abnormally long, in Kent's opinion) to get the engine up and ready. After a few minutes, though, the red light next to the engine controls turns green. The ship is ready to go.

Brok calls up to the brigde through the intercom. He says in his gruff voice, "The airlock is secure. Did you know that the cargo deck has some extra ammunition? There's a missle mount down there, too!"

As soon as Kent gives the all-clear, Pete opens up a communications line with the Tycho Flight Control and relays the proper data for their launch.
"This is a lot better than hitching a ride like we did off of Earth. We're running the show this time," Sneaky Pete says, giving a thumbs up to Kent.

The low-quality voice that comes from the radio is basically the same style as it's been for over 500 years, though your characters probably don't know that. Radio technology has gotten a longer range, but the quality of the controller is still pretty rough.

The crunchy voice that replies says, "Tycho Bay 18, the pattern is full. Hold for 60 seconds."

... about a minute ticks by ...

"Tycho Bay 18, clear for blast off. Please acknowledge."

"Roger that," Sneaky Pete replies. "Yellow Roykan is a ready for blast off."
Sneaky Pete gives a thumbs up to Kent, letting him know that the ship is clear.

Mike nods and sends the ship up into the air, its thrusters forcing them off the ground. "I miss this." He reaches for the throttle and blasts them up into the atmosphere.
