BA7347-06 is currently on a rocket ship with a bunch of pirates who offered to give him a ride to his destination. When he boarded the rocket, they quickly forgot their promise.

"We've got work to do," said the captain. A grimy space pirate, the captain refused any explaination, and insisted that BA7347-06 "earn his keep."

BA7347-06 quickly learned that they were waiting to prey on the next unsuspecting ship to pass by. The next ship happened to be the Yellow Roykan. The prey was heavily armed, and it gave the pirate ship a severe beating.

Now, the pirates await the crew of the Roykan at the airlock, expecting to fend off a boarding attempt before the pirates' tug ship arrives on schedule -- 30 minutes after the battle began.

BA7347-06 is currently on the bridge. The pirate captain has just sent a message to the Roykan, inviting them to board the pirate vessel. The captain yells at BA7347-06 to get below and secure the airlock.

The captain then slaps BA7347-06 and hurries below deck. (BA7347-06 is not physically hurt by this, but it might hurt his feelings.)

BA7347-06 is alone on the bridge.

The worker offers no reaction to the slap. It is evident that he's fairly used to this sort of treatment. He scratches his head and considers his situation. Can he see the enemy ship through a viewscreen or porthole? Does it bear any obvious affiliatory markings? How many pirates are on board this ship? Is the communications equipment easy to use, or does it require some training or technical knowledge? Finally, have the pirates been using any sort of name or term to refer to him by, other than his serial?

Yes, he can see the ship. It's very close. At a few points during the battle, it was very close! It is definitely not a RAM ship. It is Lunarian, but the Worker would have to think for a few moments to realize that. (For an average human (INT 10), it's not easy to tell a Lunarian ship from a Belter or Terran ship.)

Pirates on board: 4

The commo equipment has just been used, so it's already tuned to the right channel. The hard part is already taken care of. The Worker could communicate on that channel to the Roykan, but could not tune into Ceres, for instance. Also, people on the other end would almost immediately know that you're not skilled in radio use. It's rather like hearing somebody speak on a CB radio if they've never used one before.

They've used derogatory terms for him since lift-off. They use names such as "vat boy", "dummy", and "number". Also, they say things like, "Crawl out of your vat, Number, and get to work!" Basically, it's the same stuff you heard from RAM, though the physical abuse is far less. They haven't used his number. They don't care enough to memorize it.

On the bright side, they helped to get the Worker away from RAM.

The worker uses the commo to hail the Roykan. Having no clue regarding the nuances of ship-to-ship protocol and communications, he goes for the direct approach:
"Attention, hostile vessel. I am being held here against my will. I must ask for your assistance in departing this ship. Can you offer any help?"

There comes a reply on the radio. "Unknown rocket, how do we know that this isn't a trap?" The voice asks, "After all, you've got men just waiting for us in the airlock if we board. If you want to escape, take an escape pod. We can pick you up."

(The pirates' ship does not have escape pods.)

After a moment, the voice from the radio continues, "Perhaps if you can create a distraction for us on board, we'll be able to help you. Blow something up or set off alarms or something to get those pirates away from the airlock."

The Worker BA7347-06 can hear the crew below. The captain is shouting orders about where the pirates should take cover and who should fire first.

The worker observes the Roykan for a moment. What is the ship doing? Does it appear to be maneuvering into position to board?
He shouts down to the pirate crew.
"Captain, we are still being hailed by the other ship. They seem to want to negotiate."
He doubts that anyone will come back up to the bridge, but if anyone does he will attempt to knock them unconscious from behind as they pass. What sort of armor are they wearing?

The other ship is coming closer, but it's not in range to board. They're being very cautions.

The pirates have little armor, and they're all bearing knives and swords. One has a laser pistol, but more might also.

A shout comes back, "Tell them they'll eat vacuum when they get there!"

The worker looks around for anything that could be used as an explosive. Is there an armory on the ship, or any sort of grenades stored anywhere?

There's no armory, per se, on this ship.

Now, there are two places where weapons might be stored: the crew's quarters (in footlockers, etc.), and in the cargo area (smuggled weapons, captured weapons). The Worker would not know of any weapons in the cargo area, so that leaves the crew's quarters.

Normally, the engineering deck might be a good place to start a fire or something. Since it's already on fire, there's not much left to do.

The worker communicates with the Roykan one more time. "The ship is falling apart already. I don't think even an explosion on the bridge will distract these people from the airlock. I will have to engage the pirates myself until you arrive. Maybe you could fire some shots at the hull near the airlock... the concussion could knock them down or at least throw them off balance. If you trust me enough to go through with this, then... good luck."

The worker heads below deck and approaches the airlock. He looks for a spot of cover from which he can take aim at the pirates... hopefully he can hide behind a doorway or something.

The Worker can hide on the deck above and shoot through the hatch leading down to the airlock deck. This gives him good cover, too. They'd almost have to climb the ladder to hit him. Almost...

They are still crouched and ready for a boarding, though a few of them seem to be bored already.

The last view that BA7347-06 has out the window before he descends shows the Yellow Roykan moving closer...

The pirate ship rocks as the Roykan fires. You can hear the dissent coming from the crew. Shouts of, "They're firing!" "Why are we sitting here?" and "Stay put, you cowards!" come from below. People begin running to avoid the laser blast.

The hull holds, but the airlock is in chaos.

The worker draws his laser pistol, picks the clearest shot he has at any of the pirates, and fires through the hatchway. If it makes any difference given his level of skill, he shoots to wound.

The Worker gets off one shot, which hits a pirate (not the captain) in the leg. Before he has a chance to aim again, the ship is hit by something BIG!

The Worker is knocked to the floor, though it seems that the pirates are pretty shaken up. Among the cries from below comes, "AAaarrgh!! My leg!"
